Tiene un l\u00edmite el\u00e1stico de unos 250 MPa, una densidad de 7,85 g\/cm\u00b3 y un m\u00f3dulo de Young de unos 210 GPa. Debido a su bajo coste y a sus aceptables propiedades mec\u00e1nicas, el acero con bajo contenido en carbono se utiliza habitualmente en diversas industrias. A diferencia de <a style=\"color: #ec1c24; font-weight: 500;\" href=\"https:\/\/steelprogroup.com\/es\/medium-carbon-steel\/\">Acero al carbono medio<\/a> y <a style=\"color: #ec1c24; font-weight: 500;\" href=\"https:\/\/steelprogroup.com\/es\/high-carbon-steel\/\">Acero con alto contenido en carbono<\/a>, que ofrece mayor dureza y resistencia, el acero con bajo contenido de carbono es menos d\u00factil pero m\u00e1s f\u00e1cil de soldar y formar.<\/p><p>El acero con bajo contenido de carbono es muy popular debido a su excelente soldabilidad y ductilidad. Se utiliza com\u00fanmente en aplicaciones estructurales, fabricaci\u00f3n de autom\u00f3viles y productos de alambre; su menor contenido de carbono proporciona un equilibrio entre resistencia y flexibilidad. A diferencia del acero con medio y alto contenido de carbono, que tienen mayor resistencia a la tracci\u00f3n y dureza pero son menos d\u00factiles, el acero con bajo contenido de carbono se puede alear y tratar t\u00e9rmicamente para mejorar la resistencia y la dureza.
