Heat Treatment

Heat Treatment

Heat treatment for stainless steel coil
  1. Annealing
    • Temperature: 1010°C to 1120°C (1850°F to 2050°F)
    • Process: Heat followed by rapid cooling (usually in water or air)
  2. Stress Relieving
    • Temperature: 425°C to 870°C (800°F to 1600°F)
    • Process: Slow cooling after heating to relieve internal stresses
  3. Solution Treatment
    • Temperature: 1065°C to 1120°C (1950°F to 2050°F)
    • Process: Heat to dissolve carbides, then quench to retain austenitic structure
  4. Hardening, Tempering, Aging
    • less common
    • Process: 316 stainless steel cannot be hardened, tempered, or aged by heat treatment.
