904L Stainless Steel Plate, Sheet & Strip

904L Stainless Steel Plate, Sheet & Strip

  • 904L stainless steel plate is a high-strength, corrosion-resistant austenitic stainless steel, especially suitable for equipment and structures working under high temperature, high pressure and corrosive media. It is widely used in chemical industry, marine engineering and other fields.
  • 904L sheet performs well in acidic environments such as sulfuric acid and phosphoric acid, and can effectively resist pitting, crevice corrosion and intergranular corrosion. The low carbon content effectively reduces the risk of intergranular corrosion after welding, and no additional heat treatment is required. It is used in chemical equipment, pharmaceutical equipment, food processing equipment and other fields.
  • The thickness and width tolerances of 904L strip are very small, suitable for the manufacture of precision parts, and can effectively resist various strong acids and corrosive media. 904L strip can be stamped, drawn and other processing operations to meet the manufacturing needs of complex parts. It is used in electronic products, precision instruments, medical equipment and other fields.

Heat Treatment

Heat Treatment

A 304 stainless steel sheet is undergoing heat treatment.
  1. Solution annealing is the primary and recommended heat treatment for 904L stainless steel plates, sheets, and strips:
    • Heat the material to between 1090°C – 1175°C (1994°F – 2147°F). Hold at this temperature for a period of time and cool rapidly, usually using water quenching or air cooling.
  2. Quenching or tempering: Since 904L is an austenitic stainless steel, it cannot be hardened by quenching or tempering.
  3. Normalizing: This treatment is usually applied to low alloy steels or carbon steels, not austenitic stainless steels.
  4. Age hardening: 904L does not have the characteristics of age hardening, and this treatment is not suitable for this type of stainless steel.

Characteristic

Characteristic

  • Plates: used for thicker structural parts, with high strength and excellent corrosion resistance, suitable for heavy equipment manufacturing.
  • Sheets: thinner, with good formability and surface quality, suitable for light structural parts and products with high appearance requirements.
  • Strips: suitable for precision machining and small parts production, with high ductility and fatigue resistance.

Packing

Packing

At SteelPRO Group, we prioritize the safe delivery of our stainless steel products, using the following reliable packaging methods.

  • Protective layer: Each sheet and coil is covered with high-quality protective materials such as moisture-proof paper, plastic film or PVC coating. This prevents any potential surface damage such as scratches, oxidation or moisture during transportation.
  • Padding and insulation: For sheets, we place foam or other cushioning materials between each layer to prevent friction and reduce the risk of surface scratches.
  • Shock absorption of coils: Our coils are wrapped with additional shock-absorbing materials to prevent any impact or vibration during transportation, reducing the risk of deformation or damage to the edges of the coils.
  • Secure strapping: Both sheets and coils are securely strapped with high-strength steel straps or nylon straps. This ensures that the product is packed tightly and stably throughout transportation, reducing the possibility of shifting or loosening.
  • Pallet and crate stability: All products are placed on sturdy wooden or steel pallets and securely boxed to facilitate safe lifting and transportation. The crates or pallets are shrink-wrapped for added moisture protection and structural integrity.
