- Normalizing
- Not applicable for 321 stainless steel round bars.
- Annealing
- Heat to 950°C to 1120°C (1740°F to 2048°F) and hold at temperature. Then slowly cool in the furnace.
- Softens the material, relieves internal stresses, and enhances ductility.
- Stress Relieving
- Heat to 450°C to 600°C (842°F to 1112°F) and hold at temperature. Cool in the air.
- Reduces residual stresses and improves dimensional stability.
- Stabilization
- Heat to 870°C to 900°C (1600°F to 1650°F) and hold at temperature. Then air cool.
- Enhances resistance to intergranular corrosion.
- Quenching
- Not applicable to 321 stainless steel round bar.
