- Solution Annealing
- Heat to 1010°C to 1120°C (1850°F to 2050°F) and hold at the temperature. Then rapidly cooled by water quenching.
- Restores corrosion resistance and ductility.
- Stress Relieving
- Heat to 205°C to 425°C (400°F to 800°F) and hold to reduce residual stresses from welding or cold working. Cool slowly in the air.
- Reduces residual stresses and improves stability.
- Quenching
- After solution annealing, rapidly cool by water quenching to prevent carbide precipitation.
- Maintains corrosion resistance.
