Heat Treatment
Heat Treatment
- Solution Annealing: For Plate, Foil, Strip. 17-7PH stainless steel is heated to 1900°F (1038°C) for 1 hour and then rapidly cooled to room temperature.
- Precipitation Hardening
- Condition RH950: For Plate, Foil, Strip. After solution treating, the material is heated to 900-950°F (482-510°C) for 1 hour and then air cooled.
- Condition TH1050: For Plate, Strip. The material is first solution treated, then heated to 1400°F (760°C) for approximately 1 hour and then rapidly cooled to room temperature (usually with an oil quench). This is followed by a low temperature tempering at 1050°F (566°C) for 1-2 hours to stabilize the martensite phase.
- Condition CH900: For Plate, Strip. After solution treatment, the material is heated to 900°F (482°C) and held for at least 8 hours.
- Stress Relief Annealing: For Plate, Strip. After forming, a short low temperature anneal is usually carried out at a temperature below the aging temperature to relieve residual stresses during processing.
- Normalizing, quenching and tempering are not applicable to 17-7PH sheet, foil and strip.

- 17-7PH sheet has high strength and hardness. It is suitable for cold working, has good corrosion resistance, and is widely used in structural parts that require high strength and toughness, such as aerospace, automotive industry and petrochemical industry.
- 17-7PH foil is extremely thin and light, has excellent flexibility and dimensional accuracy, and is suitable for precision forming. Although its strength is relatively low, its corrosion resistance is good and it is suitable for use in precision components such as electronic equipment, sensors and medical devices.
- 17-7PH strip has high strength and elasticity, and is particularly suitable for cold rolling and continuous production. It can be enhanced in strength and toughness through heat treatment and cold working, and is particularly suitable for industrial applications that require high strength and elasticity.
