- Annealing：
- The strip is heated to a temperature typically in the range of 1,040°C to 1,120°C (1,900°F to 2,050°F) and then rapidly cooled (usually in water or air).
- Restores the strip’s microstructure and reduces hardness, making it easier to process.
- Stress Relief：
- The strip is heated to a temperature of around 450°C to 600°C (840°F to 1,110°F) for a period of time and then cooled in air.
- Minimizes distortion and maintains dimensional stability without significantly affecting corrosion resistance.
- Hardening and Tempering:
- 316L is not suitable for heat treatment hardening and tempering.

- Excellent corrosion resistance: 316L has high corrosion resistance, especially in chloride environments such as marine and industrial chemical environments.
- Low carbon content: The “L” in 316L stands for low carbon, which reduces the precipitation of carbides in the weld area and prevents intergranular corrosion, especially suitable for use in high temperature environments.
- Good weldability: 316L stainless steel strip does not require post-weld annealing after welding, which is suitable for thick section welding, and the weld area can maintain excellent corrosion resistance.
- High temperature oxidation resistance: 316L has good oxidation resistance in the temperature range of 870°C (1600°F) to 925°C (1700°F), and can maintain high strength in this temperature range.
- Excellent toughness and ductility: Even at low temperatures, 316L exhibits good toughness and ductility, enabling it to withstand complex forming processes such as stamping, drawing and bending.
- Surface finish: 316L can achieve high finish requirements through a variety of surface treatment technologies (such as polishing, electroplating, etc.), and is suitable for applications with high requirements on appearance.
