Description

What is Q235B

Q235B is a variant of Q235 steel, sharing a similar composition but offering slightly enhanced properties. Like Q235, Q235B is composed of over 98% iron with small amounts of carbon, silicon, manganese, phosphorus, and sulfur. Q235B is processed through hot rolling and is known for its improved weldability, plasticity, and ductility compared to the standard Q235. Both are low-carbon steels, but Q235B is often preferred for applications requiring better performance in structural components, including buildings, bridges, shipbuilding, and vehicle manufacturing.

Q235B Heat Treating Instructions: Q235B steel is generally used in its as-rolled condition and does not require additional heat treatment. However, if needed, it can be normalized to refine its grain structure and improve its mechanical properties.

Q235B Surface Finish: The surface of Q235B steel can be treated through methods such as painting, galvanizing, or powder coating to enhance corrosion resistance and improve durability, particularly for outdoor or exposed applications.
